Week Two

Alright so sue me! Like the best laid plans of mice and men...this week did not turn out as planned. For starters I had my period during which I become an invalid (I still don't understand why women have to put up with all the painful, icky stuff). So exercising went out the window. Secondly without the motivation of sweating it out in the gym ...all I could think was about food with a capital F. And the cherry on the cake (you see what I mean? )was that I ate a grilled cheese sandwich and 2 slices of pizza. Aaaaarrrgh!

And the list of failures goes on - not weighing myself, not taking the initiative to re-start job applications, lazing my ass off ...you get the drift. Even the sound of the words 'job applications' in my head sounds dreadful. The only event that I was happy about this week was that my room mate graduated and is getting married after a looong trying search for prince charming. The happiness lasted until she sent me the photos of the graduation ceremony on Saturday. I looked the equivalent of Monstro the whale. There I was, in picture after picture, grinning away while my deceivingly pregnant looking tummy displayed itself to the world under the overpriced black top that I had got as a present from my friend. Damn her.

My only silver lining for this week is that I have started eating (and enjoying) breakfast which I used to avoid like the plague for the last 26 years. So a small bowl of flavored oatmeal starts my day at 8 a.m and keeps my stomach from rumbling till noon. I used to be terrified that some body might mistake the growl for a fart and start inching away from me! So I admit it - I was totally wrong all these years....A nutritious breakfast is a must for a morning free of embarassments :)

So after beating myself up during the weekend, I realized that there is nothing to it then moving on. Hopefully this is a much much much more productive week and I have some happy numbers to report on my next post. Till then cheers to Quaker banana bread flavored oatmeal.
